The Dossier
What to know about Frédéric Malle.
Frédéric Malle launched Editions de Parfums Frédéric Malle in 2000 with an idea borrowed from book publishing: commission the world's most respected perfumers, give them full creative freedom, and put their name on the bottle as if it were a book cover. Dominique Ropion, Jean-Claude Ellena, Carlos Benaïm, Maurice Roucel and Olivia Giacobetti have all contributed signature compositions.
Portrait of a Lady (Ropion), Musc Ravageur (Roucel), Carnal Flower (Ropion) and French Lover (Pierre Bourdon) are foundational modern niche references taught in perfumery schools.
