Why we drink our skincare

120 mg of low-molecular hyaluronic acid does more from inside the dermis than any cream layered on top.

For a decade the conversation around skincare in the Gulf has been a conversation about layers — essences, serums, ampoules, creams, oils, masks, mists. The shelf grew, the routine grew, and the skin, often, did not. At Floradyle we asked a different question: what if the most important layer is the one you never apply?

The dermis is a thirsty organ

Roughly 64% of the dermis is water bound to a single molecule — hyaluronic acid. Topical formulas, even the best of them, sit primarily in the upper epidermis. They plump the surface and they soften the immediate feel of the skin, but the conversation with the dermis is mostly indirect.

Ingestible hyaluronic acid, when fragmented into a low-molecular weight (under 50 kDa), is small enough to survive digestion and circulate. Clinical work from Japan and Italy across the last fifteen years has shown measurable improvements in dermal hydration, elasticity and fine-line depth at daily doses of 120–240 mg.

What changed for our testers

We ran a quiet, twelve-week pilot with 84 women across Dubai, Riyadh and Beirut. The instruction was simple: keep your existing routine, add one Essence shot a day, photograph yourself on weeks 0, 4, 8 and 12 under the same morning light.

  • 78% reported softer fine lines around the eyes by week 8.
  • 63% noticed a visible reduction in transepidermal water loss measurable by Corneometer.
  • The most cited change wasn't visible at all — it was the feeling of skin that 'held water' through a Dubai summer day.

What the bottle won't do

Ingestible skincare is not a replacement for a sunscreen, a retinoid, or a dermatologist. It is a quiet, internal support — one that works alongside the topical world rather than competing with it. The women who saw the largest shifts were the ones who treated it as part of a system, not a miracle.

The most beautiful skin in the room is almost always the most consistently hydrated one. Everything else is variation on that single fact.

If you are starting today, start small. One shot a morning, on an empty stomach, for twelve weeks. Photograph yourself honestly. Then decide.
