The Dossier
What to know about Frankincense.
Frankincense (olibanum) is the dried sap of the Boswellia tree, harvested by scoring the bark and letting the resin weep for weeks. Omani Hojari is the rarest grade — green, citric, almost mentholated, with a long cathedral-cool finish.
In perfumery it sits between citrus and resin, lifting heavy compositions and giving lighter ones a spiritual, almost architectural quality.
