What to know about Jasmine.
Jasmine sambac (the Arabian jasmine) is picked between dusk and dawn, when its scent is at full volume. Jasmine grandiflorum — the Grasse and Egyptian variety — is picked at sunrise. Both are solvent-extracted into a thick golden absolute that carries indole, the molecule responsible for jasmine's characteristic animalic warmth.
That indole is why great jasmine fragrances read as adult, sensual, never sweet. Take it away and you have a soft, child-like white flower; leave it in and you have skin, night and intent.
