02 · Formation
Born into a family of artists in the Montparnasse neighborhood of Paris, Mathilde Laurent developed an innate curiosity for the world around her. After earning a degree in chemistry and physics, she pursued further education at ISIPCA. Her career began in the early 1990s as an intern with Jean-Paul Guerlain, leading to an 11-year tenure with Guerlain, where she created perfumes like Herba Fresca. Joining Cartier in 2005, Laurent has crafted notable fragrances including Baiser Volé and L'Envol. Her work often challenges the norms of perfumery, emphasizing the beauty of synthetic ingredients alongside natural ones.
