The journey of Pierre Negrin.
Opening chapter
ierre Negrin is a French perfumer whose distinguished career spans major fragrance houses, marked by a unique creative vision.
02 · Formation
Pierre Negrin, a French perfumer, hails from Grasse, a region renowned for its perfume heritage. His family background, with both grandfathers dealing in components for fragrance creation, fostered an early connection to the aromatic world. Despite an initial ambition to pursue photography, drawn to the works of prominent visual artists, Negrin's trajectory shifted during his scientific studies. An internship presented through a friend introduced him to the art of perfumery, revealing a new medium for his creative expression.
03 · Practice
Negrin’s perfumery education was hands-on, cultivated within fragrance laboratories rather than formal institutions. His career took him beyond France in the early 1990s, with periods spent working in Mexico before settling in the United States. Since 2008, he has been a valued part of Firmenich's New York Fine Fragrance Center. His portfolio includes creations for prestigious brands such as Calvin Klein and Ralph Lauren, though he is widely recognised for his significant contributions to Amouage, including acclaimed works like Interlude Man, Journey Woman, and Portrayal Man.
