The Dossier

What to know about Cedar.

Cedar in perfumery is rarely the true Lebanese cedar; more often it is Atlas cedar from Morocco (camphorous, slightly resinous), Virginia cedar (the pencil-shaving wood), or Texas cedar (drier, harsher). All three give a perfume a clean, dry woody spine.

Cedar is the backbone of countless modern men's perfumes and the architecture beneath softer notes like rose, iris and vanilla.
