The Dossier
What to know about Chypre.
Chypre (the French name for Cyprus) is the most architecturally satisfying family in perfumery: a bright citrus top, a floral heart, and a base of oakmoss, labdanum and patchouli. Coty's 1917 Chypre defined the genre; Mitsouko refined it; modern restrictions on oakmoss have forced perfumers to reinvent it with new mosses and synthetic ambers.
Wear a chypre and you wear elegance — never sweet, never simple, always considered.
